Looking to write a book? Need feedback, discipline, accountability, an ear to listen? Want publishing advice from a 4-time author on an actual press? I´m here!
I´m currently offering individualized writing consultation sessions to anyone looking for an honest, open ear and for strategies from a 27-year-old, four time published author (via Apprentice House Press) whose work has been compared by some of the best writers in the United States to some of the best writers the world has ever known. I built my own career by following a mix of Stephen King´s ¨On Writing¨ and Robert Olen Butler´s ¨From Where you Dream¨ by challenging myself to write a book draft (of ¨bad¨ words or otherwise, publication grade or not) every calendar year since I was 15 years old. This is the type of discipline I can help instill in your project via direct guidance and honest feedback on everything from organizational structure to line-by-line editing.
At 27, I´ve had the excellent fortune of publishing in contemporary genres and also in science fiction/satire, and my undergraduate degree at Loyola University Maryland afforded me the opportunity to study under University of Iowa workshop alumni Dr. Ronald Tanner, Professor Jane Satterfield, and to study as well under Dr. Marian Crotty, whose work was featured in the Best American Short Stories in 2020. My publisher, Dr. Kevin Atticks, is the current Maryland Secretary of Agriculture, and my deep ties to Baltimore and the literary scene there, as well as the cultural and artistic and literary scene in Madrid, Spain, afford me a wordly approach to consultation despite my relatively young age compared to many in the writing scene. Additionally, one of my closest writing allies in the wild world of literary arts is Mr. Thaddeus Gunn (Best Creative Non-Fiction, Kenyon Review), whose comparison of an excerpt of the Infinite Madness to the work of Kurt Vonnegut blew my mind; I wish to use the great fortune I´ve been afforded to enhance others´ careers and help give some structure and guidance to those looking to write, since writing, I know, is for everyone.
Additionally, having studied under George Saunders and Mary Karr on the island of Patmos (and having gotten a personal congrats from the former, one of my literary heroes, on my satirical voice) I look to demystify writing and bridge the gap between where people start in storytelling and where they eventually end up. All of this is to say: when you consult with me, I am entirely on your side, and there´s space at the table for everyone who wants to share what they need to say in this world, with a degree or without it, since this is the tradition I follow, and I let my work speak for me. Additionally, I have attended the Kenyon Review Writers Workshops and have had my work featured in both undergraduate literary journals and via readings from Baltimore, Maryland to Brussels, Belgium.
